I did a 210 Kilo bench Press on Saturday @ Alki Beach Seattle --wait, I dont like Kilos--I did a 462.5 Pound Bench press August 23rd at the 7th annual WABDL Bull Stewart Push pull meet -Gus Rethwisch WABDL President was head judge in Seattle and he gave me" IPF and a HALF style Pauses"...so I know the criteria for the lifts was even and fair
"I'm the strongest I've ever been at the OLDEST I've ever been" ( take that ageists )...
I had my crew with me Nancy Carpenter who Is injured and cant deadlift (her forte) entered the Bench press contest--according to Nancy, her worst lift..I watched her blow away 150 lbs in training --but on this contest day Nancy was successful with 143 which had long pause ( head judges view was blocked) but she managed to make that lift for 1st place in the Womens masters 148 class --Nancy added 23 pounds on to her lift from last year..she is the best bench shirt manager I've ever had...
My friend from Fitness Quest at 2nd and Crowe In Vancouver, Bruce Everett the Powerful postie entered the 181 47-53 Masters Deadlift meet and went 3 for 3 with a great 441 pound Deadlift ..a huge PR with impeccable form ..In his first meet ever he placed first and received a world class trophy...
He also won the "Battle of the Bruces" there was a heavier, younger Bruce from Idaho there who wasn't up to the task of beating the Postal Bruce on this day..when we were driving down I thought I'd introduce Myself as 'Robert O. Seattle' --Nancy would be 'Nancy Tacoma '--and Bruce would be 'Bruce Everett'....not funny?? --yeah well, that's why i decided not to pull that gag...
My son Zach came to watch me Bench and he is good luck because each time he's in the audience I lift PR's --one year he saw me do a world record 450--and now my best ever 462.5--last year he couldn't be there and I only did 405 ..Zach will be joining the US Marines in 2004 love ya kid !
The quality of Lifting is always Great in WABDL contest's and this year was
no exception we saw teen world records -open and Masters world records --

..the weather for the contest was very nice ..quite sunny..then a bit overcast (cool for the lifters) Bull had the WABDL Kilo set and the Forza bench this year plus a canopy so the lifters didn't have to burn their eyes out in the sun...This was well received by a huge crowd ..turnover was sensational as beach walkers would stop and be sucked into the excitement ..I heard one gentleman ask if it was too late to enter..OH YEAH IT WAS !! some 500 lb+ benches were done and quite a few 700 lb Deadlifts were approached

...all in all a fine get together..the was one negative point.. someone decided to have running commercials done 'live' by a very capable announcer ..but they were too loud and too frequent..and if I were to ask to vote..I'd say
"Bull, I love your contests and know i'm in the presence of greatness when I attend your meets ..but if you ever have that announcer run ads again I wont ever come back to enter OR Watch "
