2006 Update !

I got a 501 bench at 298 bodyweight,63 years old... in my first meet of the year the BCPA Winter Open Feburary 12th ...I also lifted 507 but it was turned down 2 to 1 --both weights were light and easy...I got the best lifter trophy in the Bench only OPEN mens category...not the "masters" section...a nice feeling to 'out luck' the young guys ! --Now to do at least this at the Nationals it would be an IPF World Record you know !

Ross Missed his lifts on this day but is one strong bencher he would've beaten me (on lighter bodyweight) if his lifts would've gone..Ross is a many times BC Bench champ here he tries 501 !

Here is Don Froese he was trying huge weights but was injured and missed 2 big benches and skipped his 3rd due to pain ! Don will be back with a New Canadian record soon !

Ebony Rutko got a new National record with great lifts of 142.5 KILOS in the squat a 78 KG Bench and a fine 135 KG Deadlift...she impressed everyone and will compete for gold in the CPU Nationals in Chilliwack in April.

Tom Brown was 2nd in the Masters 1 275's with a nice 529 squat !!-- Bill Nickoli won the masters 1with a fine 690 KILO total --he squats and deads RAW and benches with a shirt !

Rosilin Hanna benched 138 pounds today to qualify for the Nationals April 9th ..She is now just getting back into the sport and is easing into some good numbers.

Here's Nancy after winning her best lifter award and $100.00 prize basket from Popeye's supplement store on Broadway...Rosalin flexes in the spirit of good lifting and congratulations !

During the meet coaches were carefully planning the next lift for their athletes..Chilliwack and Khalsa clubs are captured here !

Here's one of the lifts by Emily Vannieuwenhuizen a newcomer coached by Bob Bradshaw...Here shes on the way to squatting 220 pounds and deadlifting 253 pounds ..Emily is a record breaker in the sub juniors.

Wade Quayle showed terrific strength at the meet --he got all the way up with a 623 squat his power is fantastic he was ranked 3rd all over in the 110kg class out of 6 with a 692.5 kg total for all of 2005

Here's Bob Hindley and the gang working hard at the main table to keep things movin well--there were "3 contests" and 46 competitors --a great little meet ! held, once again at the Jericho Hill centre ! A BCPA/CPU/IPF sanction.

This is the best shot we could get of Womens Best lifter Kim Dennis she did a fine 392.5 KILO total with 402.313 Wilks Points --Fine lifting Kim !!!

Here I get the best lifter trophy and tons of supp's from Popeye's on broadway --surprised?? ME ??

Nancy received her prizes from BCPA's Best lifter of 2005 (wilks formula ) Ryun Laniec !! next on tap... The Canadian Nationals in Chilliwack, the lifting there will be mind boggling you may see a 700 pound drug free bench ( or 2) and some incredible lifting from juniors- women and the open group ..in the masters I want 2 new IPF WORLD bench records... go here for all the info..

One of our Vancouver lifters, powerful junior Tom Horlitz went to the big APF Outlaw meet in Chehalis late last year and hit some astounding numbers... above.. one of his heavy squats for the day !!

He didn't have a great shirt for this awesome event but his bench ability was right on the money for his debut in extreme powerlifting in Washington state.

Tom came home with reports of an awesome contest with excitement for all the lifters and audience...this is the kind of contest that features loud music and power adrenalin...some true outlaws lifted and had a blast..and BC's Tom Horlitz represented well. Congratulations Tom !!

This year I look forward to competing at the Nationals inching forth toward the new IPF World Bench records all the while losing bodyweight on a gradual basis...and yes, the WABDL Meets will not be ignored I have a goal of 529 in the bench there and upping the deadlift record for 61-67 to at least 562 (an OLD opener of mine when I was 58 )
