Kelowna June 2004

This is a photo taken by a professional photographer at the Western Canadian Powerlifting championships it is my second attempt at 501 --yes it did lock out !! and received one white light --but there is a glaring error I wasn't aware of --the outside ring is showing meaning no matter how perfect my assault to be the first IPF lifter above 60 years of age to bench press 501--it would've been nullified because of that infraction alone...

I was sadly disappointed after the Bench Only contest to have come out with goose eggs--but with encouragement from the masses, Bob Hindley and the Bob Bradshaw team I went on to lift in the 3 lift competition to win the Best Bench award among open -juniors-and masters plus a gold for my weight class in the contest--My squats and deadlifts were token attempts--and my successful lifts were 468 and 485 pound (220 kg) benches --the 485 pound lift exceeds the IPF WORLD RECORD BY 33 POUNDS --the 3 required IPF judges wern't there or this would have been a stellar day for me !!

In 2 weeks or so I'll try to UP my WABDL world record at Bull Stewarts ALKI Beach Classic !! stay tuned for more insane punishment--
( in the span of seven days I've lifted 405 440 440 501 507 --405 468 485 501 501 501--thru out the full range of motion in the bench press )
