500 pound bench press by a sixty year old man broken not once but 11 times in 64 days and 7 contests !

As we add another update to the Power page...This time Robert O. is back in the 308 61-67 class In the WABDL Nationals in Portland Oregon August 21st 2004 --with a 512.5 lb Bench World Record. (previous records listed in stories below were in the Superheavies)

But right along Robo's prediction another behemoth popular Don James, 61 years old and 343 lbs bodyweight was the 2nd person to break the 501 bench barrier in WABDL in the Portland contest Don got this lift and tried to break Robo's 515 World Record in the Supers but didn't make it this time...Realize WABDL is one federation with the "2 and only " strongest geezers there are on the planet !

For the longest time Randy Patterson has been a legend in powerlifting and has started back in WABDL he is the record hold in the Younger 54-60 age Super heavy class here we see him with a 611 World mark he weighed in at 347.2 and had a deadlift of 622 another world record !!

Here is another absolute legend ! Tom Eiseman setting up for a World record Shattering 744 pound deadlift he is in the 181 pound class ! cool set up ritual huh ?!!

The biggest buzz of the meet was 128 pound Jo Walker of Portland who at 61 years of age deadlifted 440.7 pounds for a huge World record-- She "Out formulas" even the greatest of great lifters both male and female and if you factor in her age --she is an astounding human being with no match in strength and longevity !

And of course Robo decided to deadlift in this meet without training the deadlift AT ALL and pulled a 551 to add 11 pounds to the current WABDL 61-67 -308 class World record ...at the end of this lift Robo held the bar for a long while and in a Paul Lynde voice said " Geez...I think my water broke"

One of the greatest benchers in the world Ryan Kennelly was at the Monster Muscle booth --we bought his book the Kennelly Method and he autographed it to Nancy who had just won first in her division with a PR 165 lb bench ! --I thought he'd get torked off at me for mentioning that in photos he looks like a younger handsomer more muscular Emeril Lugase' --he laughed and said someone just had come up to him at a fair where he was doing a 'cooking gig' and said the same thing...here's his training forum

This contest was a qualifier for the Worlds in Reno this year and as such the lifts were sensational and mind boggling PowerliftingUSA cover man Matt Lamarque of Monterey Cal. did an all time best bench in the 220's of 738.5 pounds --an amazing lift even at superheavy Matt made it 218 lb bodyweight !!

Speaking of Powerlifting USA our own robo made frontpage news in the July Issue with the best benchers in the World !

And for all the numbers go here for the results
