ROBO GETS 2 MORE WORLD RECORDS
At This Years WABDL Worlds In Las Vegas -- I got 1st out of three and beat the World Record bench press record by 15 pounds ( Gary Thomas 447 of Washington ) with an easy 462.7

In the Deadlift I took 1st place out of 3 and topped the previous World Deadlift record by 75 lbs ( Randy Morris 465 of Florida) Manuel Herrera played a tough game this was one heck of a cat and mouse game but I came out 33 pounds ahead with a 540 lb Deadlift !

Here's Manuel, the guy who nearly ruined my day --he's cousin to Baseball great Ted Williams

Also lifting in my class was Gary Johnson who bombed in the deadlift due to a bad back but got 2nd in the bench press He's one of my favorite people to talk to at these meets-- he restores and sells classic cars...and is very strong ! Heres the happy group at trophy time...Honestly there was a RODEO in town at the same time---but luckily it didnt effect the WABDL award ceremonies

One of the greatest Drug free lifters of all time was in attendance Manny Burrell who deadlifted around 622 to win his class easily

Here's a shot of George Nelson taking it easy before trying 600 lbs or so in the bench press --George is the Greatest Master Bencher in the World !

Colin Bonneau's favorite lifter is Treena Anthony of Alberta she broke bench press and deadlift world records and won outstanding lifter awards in the very tough Law Fire competition She is also a top drug free bodybuilder !

At the popular Monster Muscle booth Colin and I pose with Wesley Kampen and Sean Katterle of the Magazine --Colin is pictured in the middle.. shown in his second tri-mester for a great powerlifting Forum join Wes and SeanZilla here MONSTER MUSCLE FORUM

Here is Gene Knight From Oklahoma with a great 446 Bench he was 2nd to Colin Bonneau--And made him work really hard for the win !-- Colin got 474 at this meet.

ALSO My good friend and shirt helper Bert Merriman of Winnipeg won first at this years WPC Bench worlds on his way to Vegas to Tie for first in the WABDL Bench world's with a fine 190KG/ 418 lb lift but getting 2nd due to being the "Heavy Man". Bert hits a great 418 Bench.

The Winners in Bert's class
--that's Bert doing a "Cosby" face in 2nd place

There were 750 Lifters in this amazing contest put on by the tireless Gus Rethwisch --it's usual to expect 600 and 700 lb bench presses and 800 plus Deadlifts in these 5 day extravaganza's with lifters from 19 countries and every state in the USA -- I'm all psyched up for the next WABDL meet within travelling distance so I can put up a huge deadlift no one will take away from me --and that 500 lb bench I want in 2004 !!! GRRRR !!!

Robert O. Gets USAPL American record that exceeds the WORLD Record !!! 212.5 KILOS -- 468 LBS ---

Saturday October 25th in Lynden Washington at the fabulous Homestead Golf and country club Liz Willett put on the 2nd annual Fall Classic --3 USAPL national judges were there to verify any American Records set I recognized Mike Mooney from Oregon -Roger Silva and Kevin Stewart in the judging chairs and Ron Tidmarsh a great lifter in the old ADFPA as the man at the microphone...The meet was small but quality thru and thru Liz went to great lengths to provide a great platform and equipment and surprise copies of POWERLIFTING USA in our lifters package..

Best lifter was Roger Hendrix who always absolutely astounds me...

"Roger gave 700 lbs a ride on this day"

" Hey man thats 720 pounds you spot him..no YOU spot him
...No Man YOU spot him.."

" Roger decided to lift the entire EARTH
but forgot he was standing on it.."
My helpers and heavy bench day training partners were there, Bruce Everett and Nancy Carpenter I'd be 'benchin Diddley' without them ...Nancy did a rocket fast and easy 143 pounds for the gold in the womens masters (adding 5 KGS to her Alki lift with ability to put another 10 on )-- she got one of the biggest rounds of applause at trophy time..

USAPL National Champion and one of the most outstanding lifters in the World Liz Willett (squats 616 benches 402-deads 501 ) put on a beautiful contest for the lifters again this year !

"I dont thinks he's wearing any pants"

With the Classic Darigold COW logo on the wall behind us --I quipped we should change the name of the meet to "The Mad Cow Open" next year--altho we got some laffs with that I think it'll stay Homestead for awhile...

"Lea Foreman America's top Olympic style lifter went after the great Priscilla Ribic's records and had no luck at this contest..on one squat attempt she fell and the was a fear in the crowd that she was severely hurt ..luckily she came back up and continued her squat efforts...getting in one huge attempt !"

Sammi Lee Chow lifted beautifully and took home top honors in the womens category as best lifter...She's back in great shape after just giving birth to a son........here she proves it "feels good" to squat deep..

"Sammi proves that Titan FURY shirts
aren't just for guys anymore"

"Lift into the Light Sammi
.....lens flare or cosmic energy???"
Paula Houston was fantastic at this meet as always
--here, her spotter says the magic Halloween words
.."OOGA BOOGA-- UP !! UP!!!"

Paula Houston does a perfect Deadlift

Steadman was best master lifter at Alki --but missed his 210 Kg lift on this day--But had a nice Opener to get some gold today ..Oprah stayed home...drat...

I hope everyone attends next years event as Liz and Her associates put on exemplary contests with fun, spirit and great sportmanship!!

The 2003 IPF World master championships were held October 8th -12th In Regina Saskatchewan Canada.
It was my honor to stand atop the podium with 4 gold medals in the masters 3 superheavyweight class !

As any lifter will tell you, hearing your National Anthem play when winning gold in the IPF Worlds is the thrill of a lifetime...And one that has taken me my entire career to achieve. I was also happy to top my own 3 lift World Record in the Bench Press by 15 Kilos --to 205 Kgs= 452 lbs

--I did achieve a 462 pound lift but it was turned down by judges 2 to 1 for insufficient pause at the chest...I have lifted this in competition before and will top it soon-- I now see 500 lbs in the bench as a reasonable goal in the near future.

My opponent Dr. Donn Martin was the favorite going into the meet with a posted nomination total of 652 KGS Donn Is a huge man weighing 310 lbs and is so tall when standing on the 2nd step of the podium he's as tall as me standing at the top step...

He was going to do an unusual thing and jump 100 pounds per lift--example-- open in deadlift @400--2nd 500-3rd 600 --he planned that all the way thru the 3 lifts --It didnt quite work out for him that way when he managed to miss many of his 3rd tries --leaving him with a 477 KG total--silver medals this time out for Donn, he was 5th in 1995
