| Saturday June 19th 2004 at the Monster Muscle.com Great Northern Bench press Deadlift championships Robert O. made 501 lbs then 15 minutes later made 507 for the all time record ! the lift was fast and perfect and achieved in a more precise manner than the first 2 attempts he made ! the crowd kind of wondered why he tried such a "light" weight because it had more velocity than his opener of 440 --and was less tentative than the 501 2nd attempt !this lift was in a single ply Titan Fury (accept no blatant imitations) and in a drug tested power federation ! |

This contest was another finely organized contest put on by Gus Rethwisch and there were amazing lifting feats by nearly every lifter--but the most amazing event was Seattle Seahawks coach Bill Gillespie ( in the plus 40 masters class) bench a world record breaking 749 lbs and got within 2 inches of locking out a mind boggling 800 pounds !!! |

| Gus said Bill Gillespie had been drug tested three times recently in the months leading up to this meet. and of course is a drug free lifter bonafide
Other highlights were Gustavo Warrington's World Record 578 lbs. in the 198 lbs. class, and Todd Christensen's 551 lbs. bench in the 259 lbs. class.
my helper and friend Nancy Carpenter lifted a personal record 159 lbs --she was so strong she must've had another 20 lbs in her lift --she is a great deadlifter but has an injured back and is plucky enough to be in contests with her least effective lift the bench but it is going up rapidly !! |

Also competing was Vancouver's Jody Cranston he bench 330 @ 148 --Jody is a personal trainer and now is gaining fame in wrist wrestling Jody had his sights on a 580 deadlift at the contest |

| the place was hot but packed the whole day --the iron was flying ! another WABDL contest success ! with the top new Magazine Monster Muscle on hand with a booth --plus a first --Beer was being sold at the hotel concession stand in with the lifting--hey no wonder the audience was so enthusiastic !! |
