I got a 501 opener and this 512 bench for First, and Best lifter in the 61-67 Heavy classes (220 thru Super) Read my blog called "Sorry honey, I cant get it ...Down!" for more...HUGE THANKS to World Superheavy Champion Don James for helping me with my equipment and handoff's !!

Robert Lincoln from Fresno, California is the youngest looking 60 year old I've EVER seen.. did 501 to join the 500+plus at 60 club he won first in his class, the 275 lb. 56+ Law/Fire ... His strength is uncanny ! His great personality brought him the largest cheering section on Wednesday !

Here is Jason Jackson and Ken Anderson from the TITAN Booth--Jason did an astounding 804 in the Bench press on Thursday to Rock the lifting World !!!!! ...altho he looks 29...Jason is over 40 !!--Ken stocks all the newest Titan gear and is a lifter of note himself !

Here is Manny Burruel opening with over 600 in the deadlift ! He has been a multi federation champion for years ! and has settled on being WABDL World champion numerous times ! He won in Law /fire master 48-55

This was the heaviest deadlift of Wednesday's sessions well over 600 pounds--there was exciting lifting in every portion of the contest opening day...16 Countries took part, with the biggest teams from Brazil and Colombia..and of course every state had lifters going for the gold !

Raw lifters braved the 'shirted' competition, and impressed the crowd with their pure power !

Note how the head judge is right on the lifter to yell PRESS the second the bar touches in control.

This is Mary Stack of Ann Arbor, she lifted in the Handicapped womens division and did 253 without a bench press shirt...she barely missed 275 Raw to end the day with a big win in her division !!

Here The Great Rudy Lozano and I share the best lifters awards--Rudy, for the light bodyweight classes and me for the heavies (220-242-259-275-308+Super)

Bud Davis of Utah holds all the masters Deadlift records...here he opens with 600 pounds..it was very EASY for him.

OUCH --This is Bud again with 650 --he didn't make it...but he did get it farther up than this (sleepy Camera) Calling Doctor Armitage...Dr. Robert Armitage, platform ONE please !

Here is the spacious "Olympic training hall" style warmup room we had...part of a new improved Riviera Hotel set up this year !--next year our World's are at Disneyland !!--sign me up...I'm a 'Mickey Mouse' lifter !

Here is another shot of the warmup room --it had a TV with the lifts piped in to see...a running scoreboard was projected so we knew when we were up, and we could hear great announcers like Mike Scott running the meet smoothly !

This is Bob Cortes possibly the greatest masters lifter of all time !! He holds every record imaginable in EVERY legitimate federation in the world, he is 74 and probably stronger than most teenagers in the sport ! Bob broke more records Wednesday...WABDL and IPF honor him above all, a living legend !

Room with a view....this was from my window...it was room 4522...when the elevator delivered me to floor "45" in 2 seconds ...I thought--Damn, this is the worlds fastest elevator...no,I have the slowest level of comprehension...they started with floor 40 as floor #1 --I was really on the FIFTH floor --- "duuuh"

This is the first place sculpture !! Very artizmically pleasing and about 13 inches tall !

Here is the Best Lifters award --or as I called it... "The Brave enough to go RAW Award" which I gave over to Charles Vause of Honolulu who is in his 70's and in the 165's--He benched against shirted guys and got a fine 225 lift !! --He is a new friend I ran into at the breakfast place in the hotel..he had great stories to tell about his team and training !

Here is the stage set up--as this is written, the meet is still going on ..this platform will see 800 and 900 pound bench presses and huge 800+ deadlifts thru til Monday's final session ! The monsters will happen Fri Sat Sun --the Huge auditorium will be packed for these big days !!
HERE ARE MORE PICTURES !!

Mr Mongomery Burns....I mean...Mr Arthur Whinston, of Portland is 81 and deadlifted a World record 151--his wife Melicent,78 was careful to only lift 156...or it would be 'no sugar tonite mama !' The Whinstons have 5 children..Arthur still works as a copyright lawyer..these are 2 of the nicest people you'll ever meet..they support WABDL meets by lifting 4 or 5 times a year !! ---most everyone in the crowd loves when they lift..and they inspire us all to even 'cast a breath' at that age !

I'm looking forward to many new challenges next year and feel that this year has been a magic one, with my 529 Bench, established in September..My USAPL American BP Record, in October and my 7 World records broken this year including a 700 Kilo total in the CPO..I feel blessed and proud to know and lift with the great lifters in these contests...here's to bigger and better things in 2007...stay tuned to the NEW blog for meet plans and ruthless thought bubbles from yours truly, Rotundo of the North !!
